At the initiative of German offshore Owners Association, in cooperation with Kerteminde Sejlklub and the owners of offshore racing organizations from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway a completely new racing series is launched in 2010: The hanseboot IRC Baltic Open. This race series is based on the collective international scoring of established classical offshore races in the Baltic and North Sea.
A total of two to three established offshore races per country will be incorporated in the calculation according to the international IRC handicap system. The goal of the organizers is to promote the competition of international offshore sailors in the Baltic and motivate them to increasingly compete in races of neighbouring countries. Therefore, the two best results will be assessed for each yacht, taking into account the size of the participating field. Furthermore, extra points will be awarded for crews who participate in races of at least two different countries. Read more about the scoring...

“The RORC currently is making plans to try and re-introduce the Admirals Cup in 2011,” says Volker Andreae, Chairman of the German offshore Owners Association. “Therefore, all committed sailors realize that only a preparation within the bounds of international competition has prospect of success. For this purpose, Hanseboot IRC Baltic Open provides an optimal platform.” Per Weiskvist, owner of the J/V 41 R "Visione 3" from Kerteminde Seijlklub agrees: “It will be great, and at a high level, for Northern Europe conditions, I think.” Zoe Andreae explains the idea behind the circuit in the Hamburg City Hall.

Yes - there are some new races! The Gulf of Finland Race shall be about 100 miles and start near Helsinki (Espoo) and sailors shall sail an oval circle. The notice of race will be out within a few days. Corresponding news will be published on this site.
Our system will be updated accordingly asap.
Thx for your advise!

The "Gulf of Finland Race" sound interesting. Is this the feader race from Hanko to Sandham?
If nobody else has given you an answer, I can tell you, that almost all the regattas in the circuit is newcomers to the IRC rule.
Kind regards
Per Weiskvist
Great initiative! Good luck from the TP52 Class. The IRC optimised 2011 TP52 Rule is a great opportunity to race boxrule as well as IRC events without requiring modifications. The best of both worlds now available in 1 rule.

The regatta consist of two days of racing. One day with winward/leeward courses and one day with the famous obstruction course, where not only boat speed but also boat handling is essential.
The aim of the game is to win your group and thereby participate in the draw amoung the other group winners, so that the lucky skipper can win his weight in redwine.
Auftaktfeier 12. Februar 2010 im Hamburger Rathaus, Voranmeldung unter www.ger-oo.org/events
The Fyn Rundt is the oldest long-distance regatta in Denmark, starting in 1934. It involves some of the most challenging water areas in Northern Europe, navigating strong currents, shallow waters, narrow straits and of course the passing 4 bridges including the second longest bridge in the world - the Storebaelt Bridge.
It starts and finishes in the beautiful provincial town of Kerteminde, where the spectacular view of all the boats can be enjoyed from the porch of Kerteminde Yacht Club in an atmosphere you will only find here.
Today the race still attracts many sailors, and fierce competition is the hallmark of every participant.
We welcome you to Fyn Rundt and to the Hanseboot IRC Baltic Open 2010.
