INTERNATIONAL YACHT FORUM HAMBURG - Saturday, 13th February 2010
Friday, 15 January 2010 20:00

townhallThe offshore regatta scene has changed dramatically during the last years. New formalities and numerous changes in measurement have internationally caused a lot of discussion. Fast yachts and sailing fun are booming. Against this background the German Offshore Owners Association together with hanseboot Boatshow, North Sails, Pantaenius yacht insurance and SGS invite to a free forum concerning the future in Offshore Yacht Racing.
We have been able to secure international experts and the naval architects Torsten Conradi, John Corby, Marc Mills and Simon Rogers as discussion partners for this workshop, who will elucidate various topics. In an open discussion the participants will be able to direct questions to the experts and discuss different points of view. Click here for the program. Please register for the event until the 1st February 2010 at the latest by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Warnemuende Bornholm/ hOO Regatta
Monday, 11 January 2010 19:50

uijuijuijThe organizers of WarnemĂĽnder Woche have recently published the programme for the Bornholm/ hOO regatta. Races will start on SATURDAY, 3 July 2010, with the WarnemĂĽnde Cup, a middle-distance race on the Mecklenburg Bay. It will be followed by Up&Down Races on Sunday. The highlight of the series, the Round Bornholm long distance race, will be started on Monday, 5 July 2010. It is a long standing tradition of this third longest regatta of the Baltic IRC series, that the participants will have to decide by themselves whether they will round the island of Bornholm clockwise or anti-clockwise, which has always been a major tactical challenge. Due to the fact that the Baltic Sea mostly provides strong winds from either westerly or easterly directions the Round Bornholm Race has year by year proved to be a great challenge for the skills and endurance of participating crews in real offshore conditions. Furthermore the race record set by Klaus Murmanns former Baltic 56 "UCA" of 28 hours 37 minutes is still waiting to be broken.

Baltic IRC Scoring System
Sunday, 06 December 2009 15:46

How does the Hanseboot Award Scoring work?

Shortly after the idea of the Baltic IRC Circuit was born, the basic principles of evaluating a scoring system had been defined. These are the following:

  • Competitors are not forced to compete in every event of the Baltic IRC Circuit
  • Only the two best results will be used to evaluate a ranking of the fleet (test the calculator)
  • Additional points will be given for participating in races of foreign countries

The basic idea behind is, that we try to create a motivation for sailors to participate in races in different countries. This is the reason why we are implementing the additional points which will be given for visiting foreign races.

Pantaenius Round Skagen Race
Thursday, 03 December 2009 13:15

hexeThe organizers of Germany's longest and most exigent offshore race have confirmed their participation in the Hanseboot IRC Baltic Open 2010.

The fact that Pantaenius usually equips each of the 60 to 70 yachts with a bottle of "Skagen Rum" after the skippers meeting is evidence enough for the occasionally tough and “frosty” conditions.

The Pantaenius Round Skagen Race will start on Heligoland on 24th May, 2010.
